<image:caption>Virginia MIlitary Institute senior Christina Stalnaker of Newport News wrings the water out her socks from walking in the rain all day. A handful of VMI cadets walked the 84-mile trek from Lexington to New Market, as part of a time-honored tradition to commemorate the cadets of 1864 who marched from VMI, in Lexington, to the site of the May 15th battle in New Market during the American Civil War. This year's walk was slightly more historically accurate, because the rain the senior cadets faced was similar to what the cadets faced on the march 144 years ago.</image:caption>
